Huawei has introduced the Mate 90 Pro Max, which features the industry-first 'four-SIM, three-standby' capability. This function allows users to manage up to four phone numbers by combining two physical SIM cards with two eSIM profiles.

The system enables three cards to remain active simultaneously for calls, internet access, and SMS. Users can configure various combinations, such as two physical cards plus one eSIM, or other setups, to ensure three-card standby functionality.

The Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design will also receive this feature via an over-the-air update. Huawei expects to push the new software version to users in mid-to-late October.

The device interface displays signal status for all three active cards in the status bar. The system utilizes a primary card display alongside a stacked view for secondary cards, supporting 5A communication standards.

Huawei began integrating eSIM technology in December 2025 with the Mate 80 RS. Since September 2026, models such as the Mate XT 2 and Pura X View have come equipped with standard eSIM support for dual physical and dual eSIM configurations.
