Huawei Technologies has filed a new trademark application for the name Xingmang, according to data from the National Intellectual Property Administration. The company first initiated trademark registration for this term on April 8, 2019, and the latest filing is currently awaiting substantive examination.
The trademark, registered under number 93069405, falls into the international class 9 category. This classification covers a wide range of hardware and electronics, including smartphones, laptops, smartwatches, smart glasses, electronic pens, headphones, and integrated circuit chips.
The filing has fueled speculation regarding a potential new sub-brand from the company. Social media discussions suggest that Xingmang could be the name for a forthcoming product line, as rumors circulate about Huawei expanding its sub-brand portfolio.
Reports from September indicated that Huawei is planning a strategic shift in its mobile division. The company is reportedly preparing to launch a new online-focused, cost-effective brand, while the existing nova series is expected to evolve from a product line into an independent sub-brand.
