Huawei has announced that the HarmonyOS 7 update for its WATCH Ultimate and WATCH series smartwatches will introduce a new wrist-based home control feature. This functionality allows users to manage smart home devices and execute preset scenes directly from their wrists, alongside improved voice control via the Celia assistant.

The HarmonyOS 7 system was officially unveiled at the HDC 2026 developer conference on June 12, 2026. The Huawei WATCH 6 series, which launched on September 7, 2026, with a starting price of ¥2799, was the first to feature the new operating system. The 46mm model utilizes sapphire glass and stainless steel, while the 42mm version is built with aerospace-grade aluminum.

On October 9, 2026, Huawei detailed further updates for the WATCH Ultimate 2 and Ultimate Design models. These include the transition from Health Summary to the Health Insight app, the addition of high uric acid risk assessment, and new interface light effects. These models are currently in the public beta testing phase for HarmonyOS 7.

The wrist-based control feature supports a variety of smart home hardware, including lamps, smart speakers, power sockets, and air conditioning controllers. As of mid-September 2026, Huawei has not yet released a HarmonyOS 7 upgrade schedule for older devices such as the WATCH 5 series.
