Huawei Terminal BG CEO announced that the Octopus card service is now available on the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max. The company plans to gradually expand this functionality to other HarmonyOS smartphones.

Testing confirms that the feature is already accessible on the Mate 80 series and Pura X models, provided users have received the necessary activation rights. The digital card offers the same benefits and coverage as the physical version.

The service supports payments in public transport, retail stores, and dining establishments, including chains like 7-Eleven, CircleK, and Watsons. Users can pay via NFC without unlocking their devices or launching specific apps.

The Huawei Pay integration allows users to check their balance in real time and top up their accounts using UnionPay cards. Octopus, a contactless smart card system launched in 1997, remains a primary payment method for transport and retail in Hong Kong.
