Huawei and China Mobile Inner Mongolia have successfully tested a 5G-A gigabit uplink network at the Yimin open-pit mine in Hulunbuir. This project marks the first validation of such capabilities in an open-pit mining environment in China.
The network utilizes 4.9GHz and F/A SUL supplementary uplink technologies to enhance connectivity. Field tests recorded a peak single-user uplink speed of 1022 Mbps, providing a robust foundation for high-bandwidth industrial applications.
The implementation addresses critical challenges in mining operations, such as complex wireless environments and difficult base station deployment. These factors previously limited the use of high-definition video monitoring and remote equipment control.
Engineers deployed uplink carrier aggregation, TDD spectrum slot ratio optimization, and F-band supplementary uplink technologies. These solutions ensure stable uplink speeds exceeding 20 Mbps even in weak-coverage areas at the mine's edge.
The enhanced network supports the large-scale deployment of autonomous mining trucks and real-time AI analysis. By overcoming previous bandwidth and latency bottlenecks, the infrastructure facilitates the transition toward unmanned mining operations.
