Users of the Huawei Ruiying Z10 external camera for Mate 90 smartphones reported that standard 62 mm filters do not fit the device. Although the lens cap diameter is 62 mm, the physical design of the camera housing prevents the installation of these accessories.
Li Xiaolong, CTO of Huawei's consumer division, confirmed that this incompatibility is intentional. Standard 62 mm filters block the multi-spectral Red Maple image sensor, which is responsible for color processing. Using such filters would lead to significant color shifts in images.
To address this, Huawei provides a dedicated adapter that converts the mount from 62 mm to 77 mm. This solution allows users to attach standard 77 mm filters without interfering with the Red Maple sensor, ensuring correct color reproduction for the camera system.
