Honor has unveiled camera specifications and sample photos for the upcoming Magic 9 smartphone, scheduled for an official launch on September 28. The base model features a new primary sensor with a 1/1.4-inch optical format, increasing the resolution to 200 megapixels compared to the 50-megapixel sensor found in the previous Magic 8 model.

The device includes a significant upgrade to its telephoto capabilities, replacing the previous 64-megapixel module with a 200-megapixel periscope lens. This new module utilizes a 1/1.56-inch sensor, reportedly the Samsung ISOCELL HP5, and offers approximately 3.5x optical zoom. The ultra-wide camera maintains its 50-megapixel resolution.

Honor released full-resolution sample images showcasing the camera's performance in both day and night conditions. Night shots captured with the 80mm equivalent periscope lens demonstrate improved dynamic range and noise reduction. The device also employs the new proprietary ARRI Imaging system for image processing.

The primary camera supports equivalent focal lengths of 45mm and 50mm, likely achieved through cropping from the high-resolution 200-megapixel sensor. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has also released sample photos for its Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, which is set to debut on September 23.
