Honda and Mitsubishi have entered a partnership to develop a new ladder-frame pickup truck. Mitsubishi will manufacture the vehicle at its facility in Laem Chabang, Thailand, while Honda will sell the model through its own dealer network.

The rollout of the new pickup is scheduled for 2028, with an initial focus on the Southeast Asian market. The vehicle will likely be based on the facelifted Mitsubishi Triton platform, potentially incorporating hybrid powertrain options.

This collaboration allows Honda to enter the utility vehicle segment without the high costs of in-house research and development. The companies are also exploring further cooperation, including the standardization of software and the joint development of digital cockpits.

Beyond this project, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan are discussing the shared use of electronic control units for hybrid and electric vehicles. Additionally, there is a possibility that Nissan could produce pickups for Honda and Mitsubishi at its plant in Mississippi.
