Hithium Energy Storage has unveiled its new sodium-ion energy storage solution, the Power N4.0MWh. The system utilizes the proprietary N785Ah sodium-ion battery cell and is scheduled for mass production and delivery by 2027.

The N785Ah cell features a cycle life of 20,000 cycles and a 30-year design service life. It supports operation durations ranging from 2 to 8 hours. The cell is compatible with existing manufacturing lines designed for Hithium's lithium-ion battery production.

The system incorporates a specialized Battery Management System (BMS) with a state-of-charge estimation accuracy of 2.5 percent or better. It is compatible with 800V to 1500V power conversion systems, offering a 20 percent increase in rated power utilization compared to previous generations.

The Power N4.0MWh design reduces station footprint by 30 percent and achieves an overall energy efficiency of over 88 percent. It uses a hybrid air-liquid cooling system managed by AI, which reduces operational auxiliary power consumption by 30 percent and standby losses by 50 percent.

Hithium aims to achieve a cost parity for sodium-ion systems equivalent to lithium-ion batteries when lithium carbonate is priced at ¥150,000 per ton. Additionally, the company launched the Infinity Edge initiative to test storage technologies in extreme environments over the next three years.
