The HarmonyOS platform has reached a milestone of 90 million installations on Huawei smartphones. According to data from Huawei Central, the operating system is currently gaining approximately 177,100 new users daily, which represents a growth rate of about 0.7% per day. If this trend continues, the company expects to hit 100 million installations by the end of the year.
The statistics include devices running HarmonyOS versions 5, 6, and 7. Version 5 marked a transition to a native platform by removing Android open-source libraries and limiting support for non-native applications. Huawei has integrated its own microkernel, the SoftBus distributed bus, and the Ark compiler into the system architecture.
The platform has attracted thousands of developers and secured partnerships with major Chinese IT firms and banks that have released native applications. Counterpoint Research reports that HarmonyOS currently holds the third position in the global mobile operating system market, trailing only Android and iOS, with its primary user base located in China.
