In Georgia, a local engineer from Cisco, Levan Chagelishvili, is designing an ASIC chip using the TinyTapeout service. He plans to share his experience through a series of three Zoom lectures in English, Russian, and Georgian, focusing on the ASIC design flow and FPGA prototyping.
The local hardware community in Batumi is showing active interest in chip design. A meetup on Verilog was sponsored by Awide Labs, a Tel Aviv-based AI accelerator hardware manufacturer, which is looking to hire local talent in Batumi.
Other local projects include a recreation of the Soviet Vector computer on a Tang Nano 9K board by Vyacheslav Slavinsky, and an FPGA camera interface and a RISC-V processor running Linux on a Tang Mega 138k board by Ivan Gubochkin.
