Greece has officially registered its first four crypto-asset service providers in the ESMA register. This milestone follows the expiration of the MiCA transitional period on July 1, 2026, marking the country's active participation in the unified European Union regulatory framework.

The newly authorized firms gain the ability to provide services across the entire European Union through the MiCA passporting mechanism. This system allows companies licensed in one member state to operate throughout the bloc, similar to traditional financial institutions.

The Hellenic Capital Market Commission clarified its position regarding Binance, disputing claims about the exchange's application process. Binance had submitted an application in January 2026 but withdrew it on June 24, 2026, citing a complex timeline and plans to seek authorization elsewhere.

Greece implemented MiCA through Law 5193/2025. The national licensing process includes an initial assessment phase followed by a 40-business-day decision window. The country joins other EU nations like France, Germany, and the Netherlands in issuing these licenses.
