Greece has officially joined the European Union’s MiCA regulatory register, with four local providers now listed. The companies include BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet Greece, and Piraeus Bank. These additions bring the total number of unique crypto-asset service providers on the ESMA register to 359.

The regulatory oversight in Greece is divided between two authorities. The Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) supervises BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, and Capital Wallet Greece, while the Bank of Greece oversees Piraeus Bank. This structure follows the MiCA framework allowing states to designate multiple authorities.

The HCMC addressed recent reports regarding the withdrawal of a Binance application. The regulator denied claims that ECB President Christine Lagarde intervened to block the exchange's approval. The HCMC stated that no official made such remarks and confirmed it received no communication from the Greek government regarding the matter.

Binance had previously withdrawn its application in Greece on June 24, prior to a formal decision by the HCMC. The exchange has not commented on the reported intervention, citing a policy against addressing speculation, while maintaining its commitment to obtaining MiCA authorization within the European Union.
