Grayscale research head Zach Pandl stated that the recent Federal Reserve interest rate hike will not trigger significant shifts in the cryptocurrency market. The Federal Open Market Committee raised the target range to 3.75%-4.00%. According to the report, this move is considered a mid-cycle adjustment rather than a fundamental cyclical change.

Pandl compared the current situation to the one-off rate hike in March 1997, noting that such actions historically do not halt market growth. While the broader market may remain stable, the analyst expects uneven effects across specific crypto assets. Stablecoin issuers like Tether and Circle may see increased revenue, and higher yields on tokenized bonds could attract more capital on-chain.

Market participants are currently pricing in further monetary tightening. CME FedWatch data indicates an 88.2% probability that interest rates will be higher by the December 9 meeting. Projections from 16 out of 18 Fed officials suggest at least one additional rate increase is expected before the end of 2026.

The Federal Reserve has updated its long-term projections, now anticipating a rate of 4.1% for 2026, 4.1% for 2027, and 3.9% for 2028. These figures represent an upward revision compared to the forecasts released in June. The central bank currently plans for one additional hike this year followed by a potential rate cut by the end of 2028.
