Grab is currently in discussions to acquire the buy now, pay later provider Atome Financial. According to reports, the potential deal could value the target firm at more than $2 billion.
Atome provides installment payment services for retailers across various sectors, including fashion, beauty, and travel. Last year, the company reported a revenue increase of 80 percent to $470 million and achieved its second consecutive annual pre-tax profit.
This potential acquisition follows a series of recent investments by Grab. Earlier this year, the company purchased Stash Financial for $425 million and acquired the Taiwan business of Foodpanda from Delivery Hero for $600 million.
Grab recently updated its financial outlook, raising annual earnings and sales forecasts. The company reported a 22 percent year-over-year revenue growth to $997 million, while operating profit reached $19 million, marking a 186 percent increase.
