Users of smartphones running Android 10 have begun receiving notifications regarding the upcoming end of support for Android Auto. The alerts appear when connecting devices to vehicles, indicating that the phones will soon be unable to run the service due to OS version limitations.

Affected models include the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9, and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. These devices reached their final official software update at Android 10, meaning users will likely need to replace their hardware to maintain compatibility with the car interface.

Google has not yet issued an official announcement regarding updated system requirements. Currently, the company's support page lists Android 9 Pie as the minimum requirement for wired connections, while wireless mode already mandates Android 11 or newer.

The company has a history of phasing out older software versions. In 2022, support was dropped for Android 8 Oreo and below, and in 2024, the minimum requirement was raised to Android 9 Pie. It is expected that Android 11 will soon become the baseline.
