The Japanese division of Google has unveiled the Gboard Kuru-Kuru, a conceptual keyboard designed to simplify typing. The device operates on a conveyor belt principle, moving keys directly toward the user's fingertips to eliminate the need for hand movement across a standard layout.
The keyboard features four moving belts, each equipped with 29 keys. This configuration allows for the input of both uppercase and lowercase letters without requiring the user to reach for specific buttons. The system is designed to facilitate typing with a single hand or even a single finger.
Engineers suggest that performance could be further enhanced by connecting a second unit. Potential future iterations include various color schemes, a high-speed mode, and both extended and portable versions of the device.
Although the project is presented as a humorous concept, Google has released all technical documentation and materials on GitHub. This allows anyone interested to construct their own version of the conveyor-style keyboard.
