Google is expanding the availability of its Motion Assist feature, previously exclusive to Pixel devices, to a broader range of Android smartphones. According to Google employee Mishaal Rahman, the tool is designed to help users mitigate motion sickness while traveling in vehicles.

The feature functions by displaying small dots or icons over the interface that move in real time. These elements are controlled by the device's inertial sensors, allowing them to mimic the vehicle's acceleration, braking, and turns. This visual feedback helps synchronize the user's sensory perception with their physical experience.

Motion Assist is compatible with Android 17 and will be supported on subsequent versions of the platform. Users can enable the feature manually through system settings, add a shortcut to the quick settings menu, or configure it to activate automatically when the device detects movement consistent with vehicle travel.
