Google has introduced a new Metal Mesh strap for the Fitbit Air fitness tracker. The accessory is crafted from stainless steel and comes in two color options: champagne gold and polished silver.
The Fitbit Air bundle with the new strap is priced at $149.99, while the band can be purchased separately for $69.99. These additions aim to expand the customization options for the device.
A firmware update for the Fitbit Air enhances activity recognition and introduces the Health Guardian feature. The tracker now automatically logs workouts if a user's heart rate remains elevated for at least 15 minutes.
The system improves accuracy by analyzing user habits, historical data, manual edits, and location information. Google claims this update nearly doubles recognition accuracy and halves missed workout events.
The Health Guardian feature tracks blood pressure, insulin resistance, and sleep breathing quality. Access requires a Google Health Premium subscription, which costs $9.99 per month after a three-month trial.
