Google has officially introduced the Fitbit Air fitness tracker in the Indian market. The device, which lacks a screen, is positioned as a premium product with a retail price of ₹13 999, equivalent to approximately $146. For comparison, the same model is sold in the United States for $99.
The tracker provides comprehensive health monitoring features, including 24/7 heart rate tracking, heart rhythm analysis with atrial fibrillation alerts, blood oxygen level measurement, and sleep tracking. Its design follows the trend of screen-less wearables, aiming to provide a distraction-free experience similar to products from brands like Whoop and Oura.
The product will be available for purchase starting October 2 through the Google Store and major retail partners, including Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales. Customers who purchase the device will also receive a complimentary three-month subscription to the Google Health premium service.
Market analysts from Counterpoint Research note that India currently represents only 5% of the global screen-less wearable market. Despite the presence of competitors like Garmin, Luffu Link, Noise, and Urban, the premium pricing of the Fitbit Air may limit its adoption in the region, according to data from IDC.
