Google is developing a new fitness tracker, the Fitbit Edge, which is positioned in the mid-range segment of the company's wearable lineup. Leaked images suggest the device will occupy a market space between the existing Pixel Watch and the entry-level Fitbit Air models.
The device features a compact display capable of showing various widgets, though it is smaller than those found on full-sized smartwatches. The tracker is designed primarily for fitness activities and is expected to offer a battery life of up to seven days on a single charge.
The Fitbit Edge will include a built-in GPS module and an altimeter, providing more functionality than the Fitbit Air. Additionally, the device will support select mobile applications, including Google Maps and YouTube Music, to enhance its utility for users during workouts.
While official pricing and release dates remain unannounced, industry estimates suggest the tracker could retail between $150 and $200. For comparison, the Fitbit Air is priced at $99.99, the Fitbit Charge costs $159.95, and Pixel Watch pricing starts at $399.99.
