General Motors remains committed to developing a fully electric version of the Chevrolet Corvette. Tony Roma, the executive chief engineer for Corvette and Performance Cars, confirmed that electrification is the ultimate goal for the model line, though the company has not provided a specific development timeline.

The concept of an electric Corvette was first publicly discussed by GM President Mark Reuss in 2022. Despite the passage of time, the automaker has not confirmed which generation of the sports car will feature an all-electric powertrain, nor has it provided a release date for the vehicle.

Currently, Chevrolet is integrating electrification into the Corvette lineup through hybrid models. The E-Ray model combines a 6.2-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, while the ZR1X utilizes a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 paired with an electric motor to produce 1,250 horsepower.

The manufacturer plans to expand the hybrid range further with the introduction of the Grand Sport X in 2027. General Motors intends to maintain gasoline-powered and hybrid Corvette models alongside any future electric version, rather than replacing the traditional combustion engine lineup.
