GlobalFoundries and Marvell have announced an expanded multi-year agreement, building on a partnership that has lasted over a decade. The deal focuses on increasing production capacity for silicon-germanium technology at GlobalFoundries' facility in Burlington, Vermont.

The increased production aims to meet the rising demand for Marvell’s optical product portfolio, which includes traditional pluggable transceivers, near-packaged optics, and co-packaged optics. These components are essential for AI data centers that require high-frequency performance and energy efficiency.

GlobalFoundries' current silicon-germanium technology supports optical connectivity at 200G per channel. The company plans to continue investing in its technology roadmap and manufacturing capabilities both within the United States and globally to support future infrastructure growth.
