Gigant — Kompleksnye Sistemy has released version 3 of its BIOS/UEFI firmware, named BSVV Gigant, for the GKS-MP-777 motherboard. The update enables stable operation with 256 GB of DDR5 RAM, which is the maximum capacity for Intel LGA1700 desktop platforms.
The GKS-MP-777 motherboard utilizes the Intel Q670 chipset and supports 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Intel Core processors. It features four slots for 64 GB DDR5 UDIMM modules, operating in dual-channel mode at DDR5-3600 speeds.
Engineers reconfigured the system's physical address map and moved the PCI-Express addressing window above 4 GB to prevent conflicts with video subsystem initialization. Additionally, the MTRR caching algorithm was updated to ensure the entire DRAM volume is correctly cached and reported to the OS.
The firmware update also includes an updated Intel GOP driver for the integrated graphics controller. These changes maintain compatibility with memory configurations ranging from 8 GB to 192 GB and above, without disabling existing features like Above 4G Decoding or Resizable BAR.
According to CEO Sergey Semikin, the increased memory support targets resource-intensive tasks such as in-memory databases, virtualization, CAD, and local execution of large language models. The update is currently available to existing customers using the GKS-MP-777 board.
