Gigabyte has released a BIOS update that suggests a 2027 launch for Intel's Raptor Lake Next processors. The update supports both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, allowing users to retain existing hardware configurations. However, the update does not extend to Z690, Z790, or B660 motherboard series despite their use of the LGA 1700 socket.
The upcoming lineup is expected to utilize the LGA 1700 socket, which previously supported 13th and 14th-gen desktop processors. Intel aims to provide budget-conscious users with options to reuse memory and motherboards. Robert Hallock, vice president at Intel, confirmed the company's intent to maintain support for the platform and DDR4 memory.
Leaked specifications suggest the Raptor Lake Next series could be branded as Core 200, including Core 3, Core 5, and Core 7 models. Potential configurations include a 20-core Core 7 with 65W TDP, a 16-core Core 5 at 125W, a 10-core Core 5 with 24MB of L3 cache, and a four-core Core 3. Gigabyte has not provided official pricing or specific SKU details.
