Geoscan has updated its PioneerOS operating system for educational drones, introducing new capabilities for swarm robotics and software integration. The update includes the Swarm Kit, which enables users to program both centralized and decentralized drone swarms on all devices running PioneerOS.
The update adds support for ROS 2, an open-source robotics platform, to the Geoscan Pioneer Mini 2 quadcopter and the Radxa Zero computing module. This integration allows users to leverage existing robotics libraries and the Pioneer-SDK2 for advanced control and autonomous flight projects.
The Code OSS text-based development environment for Python programming has been enhanced to support direct video streaming from the drone camera. This feature simplifies the development of computer vision and image processing applications for students and researchers.
The Pioneer Mini 2 is a Russian educational quadcopter featuring an 8-core processor with a neural accelerator and a 2K resolution camera. These hardware specifications allow for on-board data processing, enabling object recognition and autonomous swarm operations without server connectivity.
