General Motors has confirmed that it will continue to restrict Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support in its future electric vehicle lineup. The company maintains its strategy of developing proprietary infotainment systems intended to replace third-party software integrations.

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models will feature new software interfaces that support CarPlay and Android Auto, but this functionality is strictly limited to internal combustion engine versions. Electric variants of these trucks will not offer the same compatibility.

An exception remains for the all-electric 2027 Cadillac LYRIQ, which currently retains support for both platforms. It is not yet clear whether this model will remain a permanent exception or if it represents the final generation of GM electric vehicles to include these features.
