Geely is set to unveil a new charging system on September 23 at its Global All-Domain Safety Center in Ningbo, China. The company claims the technology will enable electric vehicle charging in four minutes. This development follows a competitive trend in the Chinese market where charging speeds are rapidly increasing.
The new system features a power output of 2.2MW, which is approximately 50% higher than the 1.5MW capacity of the Flash Charging 2.0 system developed by BYD. Geely also indicated that its smart charging technology includes an AI-driven algorithm designed to manage battery temperatures and maintain longevity.
According to the company, the battery system is capable of undergoing 3 500 charge and discharge cycles with limited degradation. While full technical details remain limited, the upcoming launch aims to surpass current industry standards, including those of the 1.2MW Tesla Megacharger, which is primarily intended for heavy-duty electric trucks.
