Geely has launched its Smart Charging C12 stations in five Chinese cities: Hangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Jiaxing, and Xi'an. These stations feature a peak power output of 2,250 kW per connector, supporting a peak voltage of 1,500 V and a peak current of 1,500 A. The system allows two vehicles to charge simultaneously at a power of 1 MW each.
The technology utilizes an AI-powered temperature-rise prediction algorithm developed with StepOne to manage battery heat, keeping it below 65 degrees Celsius. This approach reportedly extends battery life cycles by over 20%. The algorithm predicts internal temperature changes 30 seconds in advance to dynamically adjust charging power.
Currently, the Zeekr 001 and Lynk & Co 10 models support the 12C charging rate at these stations. These vehicles can charge from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 40 seconds. While current peak charging power is 1,100 kW, future models are expected to utilize the full 2,250 kW capacity.
Geely is working on a 1,000V high-voltage architecture to further reduce charging times. The company has announced plans to expand its infrastructure significantly, aiming to deploy 15,000 Smart Charging stations equipped with 50,000 connectors across China by 2027.
