Geely Auto has confirmed its official expansion into the Canadian market scheduled for 2027. The company is currently in the process of establishing its local retail and service infrastructure to support the upcoming launch of its vehicle lineup.

The Canadian government has implemented a quota system for Chinese electric vehicles, allowing 49 000 units annually at a 6.1 percent tariff rate, with plans to increase this limit to 70 000 vehicles per year. This policy excludes the additional 100 percent tariff applied to other imports.

Geely Auto reported record-breaking performance for the first nine months of 2026, with cumulative sales surpassing 2.235 million units. Overseas exports for this period reached over 797 000 units, representing a 169 percent year-over-year increase.

In September 2026 alone, the company exported more than 106 000 vehicles, marking the fourth consecutive month of exceeding the 100 000 unit threshold. Exports of new energy vehicles for the same month reached 73 000 units, a 403 percent increase compared to the previous year.
