Geely Holding Group and Nio entered into a strategic partnership on September 28, 2026. The agreement focuses on the integration of charging and battery-swapping infrastructure between the two automotive companies. As part of the deal, the firms will engage in cross-shareholding to align their interests in the energy sector.
The collaboration aims to shift battery swapping from a single-brand model toward industry-wide standardization. Geely currently operates its own battery-swapping network under the Yiyi Power brand, which includes approximately 470 stations across China. These facilities primarily support taxi services and ride-hailing vehicles.
Geely has announced plans to expand its charging infrastructure significantly. The company intends to deploy more than 22,000 charging stations and 100,000 charging piles by the end of 2027. This initiative is designed to provide comprehensive coverage across all county-level cities throughout China.
