Gateway Fleets has placed a new order for 200 Workhorse W56 electric box vans. This follows an initial purchase of 100 units of the same model made earlier this year by the commercial delivery operator.
The Workhorse W56 is a Class 5 or Class 6 step van. It features a 210 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 150 miles per charge. The vehicle has a 178-inch wheelbase and can carry a payload of up to 10,000 lbs within its 1,000 cubic foot body.
Gateway Fleets operates under a truck-as-a-service model, which bundles electric vehicles with charging infrastructure and fleet support. The company aims to simplify operations for last-mile delivery providers through flexible financing arrangements.
The new fleet of vans is scheduled for deployment starting in the second half of 2027, with deliveries continuing through 2028. Workhorse counts companies such as Aramark, Cintas, FedEx, and Purolator among its existing customers.
