GameStop is currently listing pre-owned PlayStation 5 Pro consoles at $1,399. This price point is approximately 50 percent higher than the official manufacturer suggested retail price for new units, which is set at $899.00.
Retailers including Sony, GameStop, and Target are currently reporting that new PS5 Pro units are out of stock. Meanwhile, Best Buy and Walmart have listed new consoles at prices of $1,496.01 and $1,554.99, respectively. On secondary platforms like eBay, new sealed units are selling for over $1,300.
Industry analysts attribute the supply shortage to the high demand for HBM and DRAM chips in AI data centers. This shift in manufacturing capacity has led to a 500 percent increase in RAM prices over the past 12 months, affecting consumer electronics production.
Market demand is further influenced by the upcoming launch of GTA VI, scheduled for November 2026. Consumers are seeking high-performance hardware in anticipation of the release, while retailers continue to adjust pricing strategies for both new and refurbished inventory.
