GameStop has updated its pricing strategy for pre-owned Sony PS5 Pro consoles, with prices now exceeding the official retail price of $899.99. According to internal documents, the retail price for a pre-owned digital version is set at $1,399.99, which is 55.56% higher than the original MSRP. Disc-equipped models are listed at $1,499.99.

The company has also increased its trade-in valuation for these consoles. The buy-back price for the base model is now $800, while the version with a disc drive is valued at $850. Both figures surpass the original 2024 launch price of $699.99. These changes were officially implemented on October 6, 2024, at 3:00 AM Eastern Time.

While Sony previously raised the official retail price to $899.99 in April 2026, citing rising memory costs, GameStop has not provided a formal explanation for the current markup on pre-owned units. Industry analysts suggest that this pricing trend reflects broader market challenges, specifically the ongoing global memory shortage affecting the hardware sector.
