GAC Group announced the signing of a letter of intent with FAW Group to acquire a portion of equity in a joint venture vehicle manufacturer. The transaction will be structured through the issuance of new shares by GAC Group to raise capital.

According to reports, the target entity is FAW Toyota Motor. The deal will not result in a full acquisition of FAW's stake, nor will it lead to a merger between GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota. FAW Toyota will continue to operate as a separate entity.

Following the completion of the deal, Toyota Motor will remain the primary shareholder of FAW Toyota. The ownership structure will include FAW Group, GAC Group, and the Toyota group. FAW Group is expected to hold approximately 30% of GAC Group's shares.

The strategic focus of the transaction is for FAW Group to become the second-largest shareholder of GAC Group. This move aims to facilitate resource sharing and integration between the two major automotive groups, aligning with broader industry reform goals.
