Fujifilm has launched LTO-10 Ultrium magnetic tapes, offering 40 TB of native storage capacity. With 2.5:1 data compression, the capacity increases to 100 TB. The tapes utilize barium ferrite magnetic particles and feature 15,105 recording tracks to achieve high data density.

The LTO-10 format delivers native data transfer speeds of 440 MB/s, which can reach up to 1,100 MB/s with compression. Fujifilm reports a bit error rate of 1 in 10^20, which the company claims is 100,000 times more reliable than standard enterprise SATA hard drives.

Designed for long-term cold storage, these tapes can retain data for up to 30 years under proper conditions. The media includes AES-256 hardware encryption and meets the FIPS 197 security standard, making it suitable for government and financial institutions.

The tapes are intended for professional use in data centers, media archives, and corporate backup environments, requiring specialized LTO-10 drives or libraries. Fujifilm offers a limited lifetime warranty, with current market pricing at $495 against a recommended retail price of $890.
