Franklin Templeton executive Chetan Karkhanis states that Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong are two to three years ahead of other regions in adopting tokenized finance. The firm utilizes its proprietary Benji blockchain platform to integrate traditional investment products with on-chain settlement and fractional ownership.
In November 2025, the company launched Hong Kong’s first tokenized money market fund. It also collaborated with DBS Bank for a retail fund in Singapore, targeted for Q1 2026. Further expansion included a partnership with DigiFT in May 2026 and the August 2026 launch of the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund on HashKey Exchange.
The global volume of tokenized real-world assets on public blockchains rose from $5,5 billion in 2021 to $18,6 billion by 2025, marking a 3,4-fold increase. US government securities served as the primary growth driver, supporting the firm's focus on tokenized Treasuries and money market funds.
Regional regulatory support facilitates these developments. The Monetary Authority of Singapore has created frameworks for digital assets, while Hong Kong’s Fintech 2030 plan provides a roadmap for blockchain integration into the financial system.
