Former FTX COO Constance Wang expressed dissatisfaction with the Netflix trailer for the upcoming series The Altruists. Wang stated that the first 30 seconds of the footage were enough to upset her, leading her to stop watching. She criticized the depiction of former executives, specifically noting that the portrayal of Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried did not align with her personal experiences.
The eight-episode series, which covers the collapse of the FTX exchange, is scheduled for a global premiere on November 19, 2026. The original exchange collapsed in November 2022, resulting in an 8.9 billion dollar shortfall in customer funds due to the misappropriation of assets by the sister company, Alameda Research.
Following the bankruptcy, Wang founded the crypto trading platform Pacifica in early 2025. The platform, which initially launched as a Solana-based decentralized exchange for perpetual futures, is currently bootstrapped. Wang intends to integrate artificial intelligence to develop the platform into an intelligent trading infrastructure.
Legal proceedings involving the former leadership continue. Caroline Ellison was released from prison in January after serving 440 days of a two-year sentence. Sam Bankman-Fried, who received a 25-year prison sentence in March 2024, has requested that the Supreme Court overturn his fraud conviction and has applied for a presidential pardon.
