Ford has officially unveiled the Fathom, a new midsize electric pickup truck scheduled to hit the market in early 2027. The vehicle will be produced at the company's Louisville Assembly plant, with manufacturing operations slated to commence in the first quarter of 2027.

The base model of the Fathom is priced at $28 350, excluding a delivery fee of $1 595. Even with the additional charge, the total cost remains below $30 000. Ford aims to position this model as one of the most affordable electric vehicles available in the United States.

The truck features a spacious interior, reportedly offering more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4, alongside additional storage in the bed and front trunk. It will be the first vehicle to feature native Apple Maps integration for navigation, EV routing, and turn-by-turn directions.

Technological equipment includes a large touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the BlueCruise driver-assistance system, and a digital key. The vehicle also supports bidirectional charging and is expected to include a built-in NACS port for charging compatibility.

While full specifications are pending, the company targets a range of at least 300 miles. CEO Jim Farley recently showcased the vehicle during hot weather testing in the desert, confirming the new name and the model's upcoming market entry.
