Ford has established an internal target to sell 100,000 units of its upcoming Fathom electric pickup truck during the first year of sales. The company plans to begin production of the vehicle in the first quarter of 2027.

The Fathom is expected to launch with a starting price just under $30,000. This pricing strategy aims to position the model as a direct competitor to affordable electric vehicles like the refreshed Chevy Bolt.

To develop the truck, Ford established a dedicated skunkworks center focused on new manufacturing methods. Recent testing of the vehicle in camouflage has been observed in Las Vegas, where the truck underwent hot weather trials.

The Fathom will feature a NACS charging port, as confirmed by sightings at Tesla Supercharger stations. The company intends to leverage lessons learned from the Ford Lightning project to maintain production costs and meet its sales goals.
