Ford has unveiled a one-off pickup truck based on the S550 Mustang fastback. The vehicle was created by the automaker's Experimental Vehicles Building (EVB) Metal Shop team. The conversion involved removing the rear bodywork of a standard Mustang and fabricating a custom truck bed, while keeping the front end and cabin intact. The project also features widened and reworked fenders designed specifically to frame the new bed.

The Mustang pickup was developed as part of an internal training program for apprentices. Ford dedicated hundreds of hours to the project to provide hands-on experience in metal fabrication and panel fitting. According to Matt Korczyk, Ford's US Heritage Fleet manager, the build serves to highlight the importance of skilled trades within the company. The vehicle had remained inside the EVB facility for years before its recent public reveal.

This concept is the first vehicle from the EVB to be displayed outside the building. Despite the reveal, Ford has provided no indication that a production version of the Mustang pickup is planned. The company continues to focus on other Mustang-related projects, such as the track-only Mustang GTD. Meanwhile, Ford continues to showcase other truck concepts, such as Maverick-based builds, at events like SEMA to preview performance parts.
