Ford has initiated a recall for 223,472 F-150 pickup trucks due to a potential defect in the fuel tank strap assembly. The issue involves straps that may not have been properly seated at the factory, which could lead to the fuel tank detaching from the vehicle frame while in motion.

The recall campaign, identified by NHTSA number 26V578000 and Ford internal code 26S69, covers specific 2023 through 2027 model year F-150 trucks. Affected vehicles were manufactured between January 4, 2023, and August 27, 2026. The defect is linked to factory installation procedures rather than vehicle age or mileage.

Ford reports that no crashes or injuries have been associated with this condition to date. Dealers will inspect the fuel tank straps and perform necessary replacements at no cost to owners. Notification letters are scheduled to be mailed to owners on September 21, 2026.

Owners can verify if their specific vehicle is included in the recall by checking their VIN on the NHTSA website, with search functionality expected to be available starting September 14, 2026. The campaign applies to various trims and cab configurations within the production range.
