DTE Energy has finalized the construction of the 100-megawatt Cold Creek Solar Park in Michigan. Ford is funding this project through the utility's CleanVision MIGreenPower program, with an investment totaling $194 million.
The facility produces enough electricity to power between 23,000 and 25,000 homes. Construction of the site commenced in April 2025 as part of a broader agreement established in 2022, under which Ford committed to purchasing up to 650 MW of renewable energy.
Ford has updated its target to power all its Michigan-based vehicle assembly plants with 100% carbon-free electricity by the end of 2027. The original goal for this milestone was set for 2025.
This initiative aligns with Ford's global sustainability strategy, which aims to transition all manufacturing facilities to carbon-free electricity by 2035. The company further targets full carbon neutrality across its entire supply chain by 2050.
