Fiserv has launched its digital asset platform, with the Bank of North Dakota becoming its first live user. The state-owned bank is utilizing the platform for the issuance, reserve management, custody, and settlement of its new dollar-backed stablecoin, the Roughrider Coin.

The project involves several key partners. Versabank acts as the issuer for the stablecoin, while Fireblocks provides the necessary infrastructure for tokenization and security. All transactions for the Roughrider Coin are processed on the Solana blockchain.

The initiative aims to improve money movement across the state's interbank network. More than 90 participating banks and credit unions in North Dakota will use the stablecoin to conduct transactions more efficiently. The partnership was first announced in October 2025.

Fiserv originally unveiled its digital asset platform and its own stablecoin, FIUSD, in June 2025. The company intends to support regional and community banks in integrating stablecoins into traditional financial operations while meeting regulatory standards.
