Fiserv has officially launched its Digital Asset Platform on October 1, 2026. The first project integrated into the system is the Roughrider Coin, a stablecoin issued by the Bank of North Dakota. The token is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and is designed for interbank settlements within the state.
The infrastructure relies on several partners: the Bank of North Dakota manages governance, VersaBank acts as the issuer, Fireblocks provides technical support, and Solana serves as the settlement layer. The token is integrated directly into the existing Fiserv Commercial Center banking system.
More than 90 local banks and credit unions have access to the platform. Staff can perform transactions using their existing dashboards without needing separate crypto wallets. The project was first announced on October 8, 2025, and received regulatory approval on March 25, 2026.
Roughrider Coin is the second state-issued stablecoin in the United States, following the Frontier Stable Token from Wyoming. Fiserv plans to explore future applications for the platform, including treasury automation and tokenized deposits, to potentially expand the model to other clients.
