Mozilla has released Firefox version 158, which now includes default support for the JPEG XL image format. This format is positioned as an alternative to existing standards such as WebP, JPEG, PNG, and GIF. The browser's HTTP Accept header now automatically includes JPEG XL, removing the need for users to manually enable experimental settings.
The update also introduces improvements to the Smart Window form-filling feature. Users can now complete forms more efficiently when selecting content from sources or clicking on specific fields. These enhancements aim to streamline data entry processes within the browser interface.
Additionally, Firefox 158 adds support for CSS typed arithmetic operations. This functionality allows developers to perform division operations using functions like calc() on values that share the same data type but have different units. This update is now available to all users.
