Finalmouse introduced the Starlight X gaming mouse in May 2026, featuring new TMR Dual-State hybrid mechanical-optical switches. The manufacturer claims this device provides the lowest input latency among all tested consumer gaming mice.
To measure performance, the company utilized its proprietary XLat tester. The testing process involved simulating human finger pressure using a copper tape setup and a specialized device to capture end-to-end latency from physical press to USB packet transmission.
The Starlight X was compared against the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike, Razer Viper V4 Pro, and Endgame Gear OP1 8K V2. Finalmouse reports that its model achieves a 3–5 ms reduction in click latency compared to devices using traditional mechanical switches.
The company attributes this performance to the TMR technology, which registers a click earlier in the button travel path than the threshold used in the Logitech Superlight. Finalmouse notes that this represents a 50% reduction in latency compared to non-hybrid models.
