The FIFA Collect platform has reached 1 million users following a migration to a custom Layer-1 blockchain powered by Avalanche. The transition, completed in May 2025 under the leadership of Modex CEO Francesco Abbate, moved the project away from Algorand and Polygon.
During the 2026 World Cup, the new infrastructure managed transaction volumes that spiked to 24 times normal levels with sub-second finality. Shortly after the launch of the FIFA Blockchain, users created more than 85,000 unique addresses.
Secondary market activity generated over $25 million in trading volume during the tournament. Of this total, Right-to-Ticket assets accounted for more than $15 million. Additionally, the platform issued over 100,000 Right-to-Buy entitlements.
The FIFA Blockchain is EVM-compatible, allowing for the use of Ethereum-based developer tools. By maintaining control over the chain, FIFA manages its own validators, transaction fees, and upgrade schedules independently.
