Fidelity Investments reports that financial institutions are increasingly adopting tokenization to gain structural advantages and access new markets. Matthew Horne, head of digital asset strategists at Fidelity, noted that the industry has reached a point of no return regarding the shift toward an on-chain future.
Data from RWA.xyz shows that demand for tokenized assets grew by 41% over the last 30 days, with the number of holders exceeding 493,000. Additionally, OnchainBenchmark reports that over $1.2 billion in capital moved on-chain in the same period, bringing the total value of stablecoins and tokenized assets to more than $323 billion.
Regulatory developments are supporting this transition. In December 2025, the SEC issued a no-action letter to a DTCC subsidiary for a tokenization service. In September, the regulator approved a temporary exemption for trading tokenized US stocks. Securitize recently launched trading for tokenized shares of 12 major US stocks.
Industry experts anticipate further growth in the sector. Ka Yan Chan from UBS suggested that treasuries and equities will drive significant capital on-chain. Standard Chartered previously projected that the market for tokenized real-world assets could reach $4 trillion by the end of 2028.
