Fering has integrated Turntide Technologies' axial flux motors and inverters into its parallel hybrid drivetrain platform. The setup includes a traction motor, a secondary motor for power generation, and control inverters. This architecture aims to support long-range off-road operations across various sectors.
The Turntide AF300S motor delivers 73 kW of continuous power and 193.9 Nm of continuous torque. During 20-second bursts, performance increases to 324 kW and 452.3 Nm. The unit operates at up to 850 VDC and reaches a maximum speed of 8,000 rpm, utilizing an indirect liquid cooling loop with water and ethylene glycol.
Measuring 110 mm in length and 333.8 mm in diameter, the AF300S weighs 28.4 kg. Its disc-shaped design allowed Fering to fit the propulsion system into existing vehicle architecture without sacrificing performance. Fering selected Turntide after evaluating multiple suppliers based on motor reliability and engineering support.
The companies are continuing their collaboration on drivetrain development, including a future electrified drive unit. They also plan to provide joint support for upcoming vehicle demonstrations and industry events.
